Save Our Trees group plans party

FALLBROOK -- The Save Our Trees group that is part of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy will have a party at 3 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Palomares House on Stage Coach Lane and Calavo Road.

The main course, drinks, dessert and table service will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a salad to serve about six people. Members, donors, workers and interested workers are welcome.

Upcoming activities include a seminar titled "Right Tree in the Right Place" at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Palomares House. Work parties will take place Sept. 15 and Oct. 20.

Fallbrook Art Association to meet Sept. 13

FALLBROOK -- The Fallbrook Art Association will have its first meeting of the new season Sept. 13 at the Hilltop Center, 331 E. Elder St. Susan Sarback will lead a critique from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a demonstration at 7 p.m. on how to capture the radiance of light and color in paintings.

Participants are encouraged to bring one or two pieces of finished or unfinished work plus a snack to the "Critique 'n Eat" session at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the demonstration. The public is welcome to attend free of charge. Membership applications will be available at the meeting.

Sarback is owner of Chroma Gallery and founder of The School of Light & Color in Fair

Oaks and author of "Capturing Radiant Color in Oils." She has a master's degree in art. "International Artist" magazine has named her one of the master painters of the world.

She has lectured about color at more than 100 art schools, universities and art

associations in the United States. Since 1986, she has taught painting workshops and classes throughout the United States and Europe.

Sarback's work has been shown in galleries in New York City, San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her paintings are in private collections throughout the world, including the Medical Center at UC Davis and the Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Sacramento. The Cornell Museum of Art and History in Delray Beach, Florida, keeps 12 of her paintings in its permanent collection.

Free landscape design workshop to be given

FALLBROOK -- Southwest Boulder & Stone will present "Under the Tuscan Sun," a free workshop based on Tuscan/Mediterranean-themed landscaping, featuring landscape designer Ingrid Rose Aug. 28. The time and location will be provided when people call to register.

Rose has an extensive background in European landscaping. The workshop will teach homeowners basic design techniques and concepts used in landscaping. She also will discuss gardening preparation and basics.

Blood drive planned for Aug. 30

FALLBROOK -- The San Diego Blood Bank will have a blood drive from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 30 in the parking lot at Carl's Jr., 1137 S. Mission Road. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. A good meal and plenty of fluids are recommended before donating.
