Representatives from Waste Management of North County/Coast Waste Management recently presented a $250 check to Del Rio Elementary School teacher Biull Joolingen's fourth-grade classes to purchase classroom supplies as recognition for their participation in the North County Times' Newspaper in Education Program.

Waste Management of North County/Coast Waste Management, which provides waste and recycling collection services throughout North County, sponsored an environmental education-themed program in partnership with the North County Times.

Between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15, 26 teachers in Oceanside and Carlsbad received free weekly deliveries of the newspaper from the North County Times, as well as the 'Earth Savers' environmental education curriculum developed by Waste Management. The curriculum provides classrooms with home-based activities to teach students about recycling, conservation and other environmental themes. The class from Del Rio in Oceanside was selected in a random drawing from surveys provided by classes participating in the program.
