Rock 'n' roll summer camp for kids 7-12

VISTA -- North County Academy of Music Performance will host its sixth annual "Rock 'N" Roll" summer camp for kids ages 7-12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 6-27 on Mondays. Kids play electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and perform in a live concert at the end of each week. Instruments and materials provided. The cost is $180 for each one-week session. Kid's college holds summer classes

VISTA -- The Kid's College, a nonprofit arts and enrichment organization, is offering summer enrichment programs for kids ages 6-12. The camps -- at Gallery 204, 204 Main St., and Alta Vista Gardens in Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive -- are from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m. weekdays. - July 6-10: Mixed Media Artist Studio, 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 6 to 11. Students will use pastels, watercolor and collage. Cost $78 per week.

- July 13-17: Sculpture and 3-D Art Studio, 1 to 3 p.m. for ages 7 to 12. Students will create a 3-dimensional world using a variety of materials. Cost $78 per week.

- July 20-24: Visual And Performing Arts Camp, 9 a.m. to noon for ages 7 to 12. Students will make healthy snacks before taking photos of gardens. Students should bring their own camera. Cost is $169.

- Aug. 3-7: Wonders of the Natural World Camp, D Art, Yoga, Drawing from Nature, 9 a.m. to noon for ages 7 to 12. Students will create works of 3D art and drawings. Yoga session kids will learn breathing exercises and experience beginning level stretching. Wear loose or stretchy clothes. Cost is $169.

Quilters to meet

Parent-daughter workshops planned

VISTA -- Girls Inc. of San Diego County and the Vista Library are offering free parent-daughter workshops called "Growing Together" from 5:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. July 9. The July 9 program is for parents only. A second workshop, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 11, is for parents and their daughters. Line dance classes to be held

Library hosts teen talent shows

CARLSBAD -- The Carlsbad Library will host "Teen Talent Shows" for students in grades seven through 12 at 7 p.m. July 9, July 26 and Aug. 6 in the auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane. July 9 is "Carlsbad Idol," patterned after the popular "American Idol" TV talent show. July 23 is a singing competition, and Aug. 6 is patterned after the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance." Valley Center Museum re-elects officers

VALLEY CENTER -- All officers of the Valley Center History Museum were unanimously re-elected at the organization's annual meeting June 24. Members are: William Hutchings, president; Sarah Clayton, vice president; Nicky Lovejoy, treasurer; and Joyce Johnson, secretary. The board oversees the museum and the Valley Center Historical Society, and maintains the archival collection of local history books at the library.

Archaeological summer camp set for kids

ESCONDIDO -- The San Diego Archaeological Center will hold summer camp for second- through fifth-graders from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 13-17 at 1666 San Pasqual Valley Road. The camp combines lessons in art with science and history to provide a broader perspective of archaeology. Cost is $100 for members and $125 nonmembers. Each additional family member gets a 10 percent discount. Campers must bring a reusable water container, sunscreen, hat with wide coverage, eye protection, and adequate hiking shoes. Art exhibition to be held

ESCONDIDO -- The Escondido Art Association will hold an exhibit titled "Noah's Art" from July 8 to Aug. 1 at 121 W. Grand Ave. All media are accepted. Loving Canines to host author Grandin

RANCHO SANTA FE -- Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, Inc. will host a lecture by author Temple Grandin, professor of animal science and advocate for those with autism advocate, from 11 a.m. to 2 :30 p.m. July 8 at the Del Mar Country Club, 6001 Clubhouse Drive. The nonprofit organization features service dogs for families of children with autism in San Diego County. Proceeds will be used to help train dogs. Lunch will be provided.
