MCC club helps Boys & Girls Club
Students from the MiraCosta College Puente Diversity Club spent part of their spring break helping the Boys & Girls Club of Vista. A mural on the back of the club had faded and was in serious need of freshening up. Members of the club -- Priscilla Mora, Elvira Ramirez, Jamie, Alma Alvarado, Silvia Lopez, Ana Santiago, Gloria Solano, Antonio Ram, Augustine Colmenarez and Victor Navez -- donned their work gear and took on the challenge. The results were remarkable.
"Having recently repainted the outside of the club made the mural look pathetic," stated Peggy Reiber, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Vista. "These youth did a magnificent job, and now our club looks great. We are thankful to these hard-working students who gave their free time to help the Boys & Girls Club look better than ever."
The Service Learning Center at MiraCosta College is responsible for putting the two clubs in contact with each other. Students from MiraCosta help The Boys & Girls Club with homework help and other events throughout the year.
