MIRAMAR - Tickets for preferred seating at the 2007 MCAS Miramar Air Show, to be held Oct. 12, 13 and 14, are now on sale at the ticket office aboard the air station, online at http://www.miramarairshow.com or by calling the Marine Corps Community Services ticket line at (877) 772-5425.
Parking, general admission and blanket seating are free. The cost of preferred seating, which includes grandstand, box seat and hosted chalet seating options, varies based on date of purchase and day, time and number of performances attended; free for children younger than 3.
Grandstand seating is free on Oct. 12 for active-duty, retired and reserve military personnel, as well as Department of Defense personnel stationed at Miramar. Discounts may apply for other preferred seating options for active-duty, retired and reserve military personnel and their families. Military discounted tickets must be purchased at the MCAS Miramar Ticket Office and require the presentation of military ID.

Camp participants to perform play tonight
VISTA - The city's day camp program will present a free performance of "The Princess and the Pea" at 6:15 tonight (AUG. 2) at the Avo Playhouse, 303 Main St.
The show will feature 13 children who have been rehearsing at the camp for the last five weeks. The play is based on the classic fairy tale of finding a true princess who can feel a tiny pea through 20 mattresses; however, an evil witch tries to stop the true princess from meeting the prince.

DEL MAR - More than 75 positions are available for actors, makeup artists, laborers and carpenters, as well as volunteers, for this year's Scream Zone to take place Sept. 28 through Oct. 31 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Pay is from $7 to $15 per hour. Those hired will set the scene for the Scream Zone's three attractions: the House of Horror, the Haunted Hayride and the Chamber. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Miss Philippines SD County named
ESCONDIDO - Idelle P. Delapena has been named Miss Philippines San Diego County 2007 at the 48th annual pageant held July 14 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Delapena is the daughter of Edgardo and Irma Pabalan-Delapena of Rancho Penasquitos and a 2005 graduate of Westview High School in Rancho Penasquitos.
She will be a junior at UC San Diego majoring in neuroscience and physiology. She hopes to go to medical school and become a neurologist or neurosurgeon.
Pageant first runner-up is Jennifer Evans, second runner-up is Sasha Pizarro and third runner-up is Alyssa Mopia.
School supplies sought for kids in need
VISTA - North County Solutions for Change, a nonprofit agency providing housing for homeless families, is seeking donations of clothing and school supplies for children preparing to go back to school.
Needed are new and gently-used children's clothing and shoes, new socks and underwear, gift cards for clothing and shoe stores, backpacks, pens, pencils, paper, scissors, rulers, calculators, markers, crayons, binders and folders.

Golf tourney to benefit Cancer for College
TEMECULA - Cancer for College will hold its 14th annual charity golf tournament and dinner banquet Sept. 28 at the Temecula Creek Inn.
Actor and comedian Will Ferrell is slated to attend the event. Ferrell is a fraternity brother of Cancer for College founder Craig Pollard, a two-time survivor of Hodgkin's disease, and is a strong supporter of the organization.
Cost to participate is $300 per player or $1,500 per foursome. Tickets for the awards dinner following the tournament are $125.
Cancer for College was established in 1993 to provide college scholarships to current and former cancer patients. Since then, the charity has awarded $125,000 to 40 young cancer survivors. This year, CFC will award approximately $50,000 to new and returning scholarship recipients.
