TEMECULA -- Dancers from Temecula Dance Company won the Sportsmanship Award among other honors at the recent Showbiz National Talent Competition in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Sportsmanship Award is given to the studio that shows courtesy during the weeklong event as well as being encouraging and supportive of others.
Judges at the competition select Mister and Miss Showbiz winners in a number of categories based on the dancer's technique and showmanship. Honored from the Temecula Dance Company were: Miss Petite Showbiz, Annelise Ritacca; Miss Teen Showbiz, Brittany Brewer; and Miss Senior Showbiz, Eve Krohnfeld.
Other titles went to Alyssa Ritacca, first runner-up Miss Senior Showbiz; Sydnee Fogal, second runner-up Miss Senior Showbiz; Justin Duke, first runner-up Mr. Teen Showbiz; Sydnee Davis, first runner-up Miss Junior Showbiz; and Kaylin Flores, Miss Petite Showbiz.
While in Florida, the company performed at Give Kids the World, a resort in Kissimmee for children with life-threatening illnesses. Temecula dancer Kelly Wiley attended the camp when she was 4 and suffering from cancer. She is now 15 and healthy.
The dancers will participate in the annual Temecula Dance Company Musical Dance Review from Tuesday through July 30. More than 1,200 dancers from 2 to 65 will be featured in nine shows at Saint Jeanne De Lestonnac school, 32650 Avenida Lestonnac.
Each performance will feature the World Famous Tapping Dads and a father/daughter dance with more than 200 dads and girls participating.
Shows are at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. There are also performances at 11 a.m., 3:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Prices range from $12 to $15. Tickets are available at www.temeculadancecompany.com.
