DEL MAR -- Four people were arrested at a Del Mar sobriety checkpoint Friday night, authorities said.

Some 2,010 vehicles passed through the checkpoint between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Camino Del Mar and 11th Street, sheriff's Deputy Kelly Anderson said.

Deputies stopped 664 of the vehicles and arrested four drivers on suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Anderson said. Their vehicles will be impounded for 30 days, Anderson said.

Deputies also issued four citations, two for having open alcoholic beverages, one for driving without proof of insurance and one for driving on a suspended licence. Deputies impounded the vehicle of the driver with the suspended license, Anderson said.
