Rich Molina of Carlsbad roasts a marshmallow with his 2-year-old daughter Grace Molina on Thursday evening at the San Diego Botanic Gardens' holiday celebration in Encinitas. More than 90,000 sparkling lights are strung through the gardens, and there were carolers, horse-drawn wagon rides, crafts, marshmallow roasting, poinsettia sales, live music, entertainment, refreshments and a visit from Santa Claus. The festivities continue from 5 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 30. Admission is $12, general; $8, seniors, military and students; $4, for children ages 3 to 12.
