SOLANA BEACH ---- A man robbed a Solana Beach bank by demanding money from a teller early Tuesday evening, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

The robbery happened about 5:30 p.m. at the Bank of America at 405 South Coast Highway 101, Lt. Mike Munsey said. The robber, who had his face hidden with something, did not appear to have a weapon, Munsey said.

After getting an unknown amount of money from the teller, the thief was last seen leaving on foot, the lieutenant said. A sheriff's helicopter assisted in a search of the area, but deputies located no suspect.

Further details were not available Tuesday.
