ESCONDIDO - Residents of a southern Escondido neighborhood have reported at least four mountain lion sightings since Sunday, police said. There have been no attacks, but police are urging residents to take precautions.
The big cat has been spotted by residents of the Canyon Crest area between Canyon Road and Mary Lane from Sunday through Tuesday, police said.
Neighborhood resident Dale Markowski said it's the first mountain lion sighting in the neighborhood, although a bobcat, lynx and wild turkeys have been spotted in the recent past.
California Department of Fish and Game officials are expected to visit the area today to attempt to catch the cat and move it to its natural habitat, Markowski said.
Police are urging residents to call (760) 829-4722 or 911 to report other sightings.
