ESCONDIDO -- Escondido police Chief Jim Maher will speak Saturday morning to the Escondido Democratic Club about the Police Department's efforts to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in detaining illegal immigrants who commit crimes.

Maher will speak at 10:30 a.m. in the Turrentine Room of the Escondido Public Library, 239 S. Kalmia St. The event is free and open to the public.
