Officers from four agencies joined late Friday and early Saturday to make 11 arrests and write 36 traffic citations, an Escondido police sergeant said Saturday.
The operation, which was funded by a federal grant administered through the state Office of Traffic Safety, included officers from Escondido, the Sheriff's Department, San Diego police and the UCSD Police Department, Escondido Sgt. Dana Ray said.
The special patrol ran between 7 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, Ray said. Officers issued 22 field sobriety tests and arrested seven people suspected of driving under the influence, he said.
Officers impounded 21 vehicles from drivers who were arrested, did not have a driver's license or were driving with a suspended license, Ray said.
