ESCONDIDO -- Two clerks were cited for selling alcohol to minors during an undercover operation Thursday, an Escondido police lieutenant said.
In the operation, a minor working with police entered 14 businesses and tried to buy alcohol, Lt. Craig Carter said. Clerks at Al's Short Stop at 908 Del Dios Road and Mariscos El Zurdo at 250 Woodward Ave. were cited for selling alcohol to the decoy.
Both businesses also face administrative actions by the California Alcohol Beverage Control, Carter said.
The minor decoy program is funded by a grant from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control.
