ESCONDIDO - Police are investigating the disappearance of a 26-year-old Escondido man not seen since Saturday evening, police Lt. David Mankin said.

Daniel William Parsons left the home of a friend in Escondido on Saturday night, Mankin said. On Wednesday morning, sheriff's deputies located a stripped car abandoned in a remote area of San Pasqual, said sheriff's homicide Sgt. Chris Wynn.

Wynn said Parsons' family have told police that it is very unusual for him not to be in contact with his family.

"He checks in very frequently with his family," Wynn said. "He spends most of the day with his mom who is convalescing." He said police were investigating it as a missing persons case only.

Parsons drove a white 1992 Toyota Celica with 17-inch TSW wheels, Mankin said. The vehicle was found on blocks at Old San Pasqual Road and San Pasqual Road missing the wheels and other miscellaneous property, Mankin said.

Wednesday evening, detectives were gathering information on Parsons and trying to check in with his friends to see if they had heard from him or knew anything about his disappearance.

He is described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes and contact lenses. He was last seen wearing a tan shirt, gray pants, and gray shoes.

Anyone with information should call Escondido police at (760) 839-4722.
