CANYON LAKE -- City officials are looking to the county government for help in scrutinizing some future proposed developments.

At the City Council's request, administrators will develop a proposed agreement that would allow the city to draw on the resources of the county Transportation Land Management Agency's planning division.

The proposal will be brought back to the council for consideration at a future meeting.

The idea stems from Mayor Mary Craton's proposal to form a planning commission, because the City Council now acts in that capacity. The council members in December rejected that idea, but agreed to look at enlisting the county's help in processing development projects.

Craton acknowledged at Tuesday's council meeting that the controversy over Sky Blue Investment's plan to build on Goetz Hill sparked her concern about the city's ability to grapple with building plans.

Councilman Martin Gibson, who has an interest in Sky Blue, abstained from the council's 4-0 vote Tuesday to seek an agreement with the county.
