A 2-year-old found floating face down in a jacuzzi Thursday was resuscitated by a neighbor, who performed CPR on the child in the front yard of a Lake Elsinore home, police said Friday.
Police responded at 2:44 p.m. to a drowning at a home on Stonewood Way, Sgt. Peter Giannakakos said. The only adult at the home left the child and three other children alone in the jacuzzi for a few minutes to prepare food inside, he said.
The adult returned to find the child floating and pulled the toddler from the water, he said. The adult carried the child to the front yard, where a neighbor performed CPR.
The child was conscious when police arrived, he said, and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Police and county child protective services officials are investigating the incident, he said.
