CAMP PENDLETON ---- A Marine killed in a car crash on Wednesday was identified as Lance Cpl. Justin K. Lewter, according to a military news release.

The 20-year-old Marine was a native of Rutherford, Tenn., assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force. Lewter, a rifleman, enlisted on Oct. 29, 2007.

He served a tour in Iraq starting in September 2008.

Lewter died when the car he was driving was struck by a military Humvee at the intersection of Basilone and Las Pulgas roads on the North County base.
