San Marcos - Vicente Rodriguez Lopez, 28, died of natural causes, Monday, July 24, 2006, in Encinitas.
Born July 28, 1977, in Guadalajara, Mexico, he lived in San Marcos for three years. He attended Torrey Pines High School, where he played basketball and won the CIF championship. He attended California Lutheran University.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his parents, Ana Maria and Vicente Rodriguez of San Marcos; brothers Maribel Rodriguez of Oceanside and Eduardo Amerzcua of Hemet; and sisters Cesar Rodriguez of Oceanside, Erika Rodriguez of Hemet, and Ana Rodriguez and Nancy Rodriguez, both of San Marcos.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A private Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday.

SAN DIEGO - Kenneth Lee Wessel Jr., 62, died Friday, July 21, 2006.
He was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Georgia. He was the owner of K.L. Wessel Construction Co. Inc.
Mr. Wessel is survived by his mother, Frances Wessel of National City; daughters Shawnee Monnartz of Temecula and Tanya Smith of Tulare; brother Jim Wessel of San Diego; sisters Kathy Bretado of San Diego and Cheryl Bolivar of Ramona; and five grandchildren.

OCEANSIDE - Irene Milbrodt, 90, died Friday, July 21, 2006, in Vista.
Born July 5, 1916, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., she lived in Oceanside for 30 years. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was an Eucharistic minister at Mission San Luis Rey.
Ms. Milbrodt was preceded in death by her sister, Helene Peltier, in 1993. She is survived by her sister, Alma Stookey of Oceanside; nephew Mark Stookey of Oceanside; and nieces Sandy Homes of Fullerton and Ginny Wekall of Cypress.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Mission San Luis Rey Chapel. Inurnment will follow at 11 a.m.

SAN MARCOS - Rodolfo "Rudy" Gastelo, 61, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Village Square Nursing Center in San Marcos.
Born Oct. 4, 1944, in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico, he lived in San Diego County for 12 years. He was a client of Regional Center. He enjoyed music and riding in cars.
Mr. Gastelo is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laida Gastelo and Louis Broemeling; and niece Luz Broemeling, all of San Marcos.
His cremains will be buried in Mexicali next to his mother.

ENCINITAS - Dorothy May Healey, 89, died Monday, July 24, 2006.
She was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Rhode Island. She was a registered nurse and operating room supervisor.
Mrs. Healey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kathy Anderson of Encinitas; and two grandchildren.

Robert Coates, 61
POWAY - Robert Earl Coates, 61, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at UCSD Medical Center.
Born May 27, 1945, in San Francisco, he lived in Poway for 11 years. He was regional president of California State Horsemen's Association, vice president of Friends of Goodan Ranch, a board member of Akhal-Teke Association of America. He was a member of Poway Valley Riders Association, Backcountry Horsemen, Caballeros del Sol chapter; City of Poway Trails and Open Space Subcommittee, County of San Diego Trails Advisory committee and the San Diego Country Trails Council.
He was a longtime leader in local horse and trail issues with the city of Poway and the county of San Diego. He played the guitar with the Peter Ray Band. He was a volunteer mounted ranger with the city of Poway.
Mr. Coates was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph K. and Jean F. Coates.
He is survived by his companion of 11 years, Ann M. Ponsford Laux of Poway; son Christian Hallam of Oceanside; sister Thea Evans of Coronado; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at Rolling Hills Stable at a later date.

OCEANSIDE - Victor Smith, 36, died of injuries he received in an automobile accident, Sunday, July 23, 2006, in Memphis, Tenn.
Born July 15, 1970, in Athens, Ga., he lived in Oceanside for seven months. He was in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Brandi Smith of Oceanside; mother Marian Wright Smith of Athens; father Vivian Smith of Sacramento; son Vaughn Smith of Oceanside; daughters Tori Smith and Sloane Smith, both of Oceanside; and sister Gigi Smith of Roseville.

Dale Jensen, 84
VALLEY CENTER - Dale M. Jensen, 84, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Escondido.
Born June 18, 1922, in Willard, Utah, he lived in Valley Center for 31 years. He was a civil service firefighter for 20 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 76 years. He was in the National Guard before World War II.
Mr. Jensen is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gertrude Jensen of Valley Center; son and daughter-in-law Randy and DeDe Jensen of Shingle Springs; daughter Lynda Clay of Valley Center; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

OCEANSIDE - William J. Suda Sr., 83, died of cancer, Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in La Jolla.
Born March 6, 1923, in St. Louis, he lived in Oceanside for 18 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired as vice president of industrial relations for Ducommun Metals and Supply Co. in 1985. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he was a past Eucharistic minister.
Mr. Suda is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Suda of Oceanside; sons and daughters-in-law William J. Jr. and Patti Suda of San Diego, Mark Suda of Sammamish, Wash., and Bob and Janet Suda of Placentia; daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Rick Helgeson of Trabuka Canyon; sisters-in-law Carol Mullaney and Terry Mullaney, both of Milwaukee, Rose Suda of Las Vegas and Patricia Pahl of St. Louis; brother-in-law Norbert F. Mullaney of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited at 10:30 and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 3821 Adams St. in Carlsbad. The Rev. Born March 25, 1947, in South Charleston, W.Va., she lived in Escondido for one year. She was a journalist in radio broadcasting. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Barboursville, W.Va. She enjoyed walking, bird watching, the beach, animals, swimming and music.
Ms. Myers is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Melody and Ron Friedman of Escondido and Virginia Myers of Huntington, W.Va.; sons and daughters-in-law Davie Castro and Chris and Debbie Castro, all of Corpus Christi, Texas, and James and Marie Castro of Teays Valley, W.Va.; mother Inez Allen of Hurricane, W.Va.; brother Phillip Allen of Hurricane; sisters Roxanna Mynes of Hurricane, Diana Graley of Florence, S.C., Deborah Rangel of South Point, Ohio, and Robin Gothard of St. Albans, W.Va.; and nine grandchildren.

Born Sept. 17, 1944, in Whittier, he lived in Escondido for 44 years. He was a farmer. He built classic cars. He loved his grandchildren.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 39 years, Esperanza Rodriguez of Escondido; sons and daughter-in-law Jaime Rodriguez and Eddie and Mandy Rodriguez, all of Escondido; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Barajas is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cristina Barajas of Fallbrook; son Jose Barajas of Fallbrook; daughters Marleen Mendoza, Juana and Cristina Barajas, all of Fallbrook; six brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Caro Eleanor Seick, 89, died of natural causes, Wednesday, July 26, 2006.
Born Jan. 24, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Escondido for 2 1/2 years. She graduated from Lasell College in Newton, Mass. She was active in various church and civic groups in Tacoma, Wash. She traveled extensively during her retirement.
Mrs. Seick was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Glenn Seick, in 2003.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven Seick and Julie Taylor of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Glenna and Ben Long of Escondido; brother and sister-in-law Clay and Dottie Stevenson of Allston, Mass.; sister Jeannette Thurman of Napa; and three grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

Heloise James
Heloise "Lois" James, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2006, after a short illness.
Lois lived in Escondido, Calif., since 1975. She was married for 54 years to the late Dr. Robert M. James who passed away in 1995. Lois is survived by two sisters, Jean Brown of Dryden, Va., and Betty Bargo of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Carolyn Bernarducci of Escondido, Janet Schrader of Lancaster, Pa., and Lisa Askar of Toronto, Canada. Her three grandchildren, Vanisa, Kimberly and Zachary will miss her greatly.
All donations are to her favorite charity, Elizabeth Hospice.

Shirley Ann DeLucchi
December 26, 1929 - July 23, 2006
Shirley Ann DeLucchi, 76, passed away suddenly at home on July 23, 2006, in San Marcos, Calif., from complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was the eldest daughter of the late Esther and Emerson Ingalls. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Uresti (Rudy) and Lisa Seiler (Bruce); seven grandchildren, Angela Yap, Michael and Jonathan Montes, Robin and Lauren Perenchio, Brian and Samantha Seiler; and four great-grandchildren with one more due in November. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Ingalls (Karen) of San Mateo, Calif.; her sister, Kay Ingalls of Mountain View, Calif.; and her longtime companion, Paul Weiss.
Born on December 26, 1929, in Glasgow, Mont., Shirley moved to California with her parents and brother at the age of 10. She lived in the Palo Alto and Menlo Park areas of Northern California, and was married to the late Fred (Bud) DeLucchi, Jr. Next, Shirley moved her family to Guadalajara, Mexico, and then eventually back to California, where she decided to settle in the San Diego area to be near her daughters. She had recently moved from Carlsbad, Calif., to Lake San Marcos, where she greatly enjoyed the peaceful lake and the many birds who came to love her as much as she loved them.
Shirley will always be remembered for her independent nature, her ease in making those around her always feel like part of the family, her feisty approach towards life, and her colorful sense of style. Although Shirley was quite tiny, you could always find her in the crowd with her stylish brightly colored hats accented with vibrant feathers and her enthusiastic laugh leading the way. She was also an astute businesswoman who successfully managed several real estate holdings throughout California. She enjoyed her gardens, reading, watching her lake birds, keeping in contact with her many friends, and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be missed tremendously by all of those whose lives were touched by this unique and spirited woman.
A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held on Friday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle, Solana Beach, Calif. Please wear bright, cheerful "Shirley colors." Arrangements are being made in conjunction with Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside, Calif.

John Willis, 82
OCEANSIDE - John Willis, 82, died of cancer, Saturday, July 22, 2006, at his home.
He was born June 12, 1924, in Cummins, S.C. He was a driving range supervisor at La Costa Resort. He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain. He served in World War II in the South Pacific on Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima. He received two Purple Hearts. He served two tours in Vietnam. He also served in China. He was a drill instructor at MCRD San Diego. He was active in the Boy Scouts and Indian Guides. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Vista.
Mr. Willis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Adriana B. Willis of Randolf, Wis.; sons and daughter-in-law Jeff and Angela Willis of McKinney, Texas, and John R. Willis of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie M. Willis and Ted Linhof of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother Harry Willis of Indianapolis; sisters Mary, Martha and Merdle, all of Dunlap; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. A commemoration will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Vista.

SUN CITY -- Jess Carter Wolfe Jr., 88, died of natural causes, Monday, July 24, 2006, at his home.
Born May 24, 1918, in Davenport, Iowa, he lived in Sun City for 19 years. He attended Westinghouse Service Technical School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, three Bronze Stars, the WWII Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, three Overseas Bars and the Purple Heart. He was in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved American Eagle. He served with Sun City Crime Watch. He played in the Senior Slow Pitch Softball League.
Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his grandson, James Michael Wolfe, in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marian Wolfe of Sun City; sons and daughters-in-law Jon Fredric and Betty of Havasu, Ariz., J. Carter and Kitty of Riverside, James William and Maureen of Plesanton and Jeffrey and Rita of Oceanside; daughter, Mary Fisher of Sun City; brothers Chester of Florida, Henry of Texas, and Ronald of Iowa; sister, Marie of Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

CANYON LAKE -- Michel "Mitch" Lombardo, 77, died of cancer Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at his home.
Born Oct. 4, 1928, in Detroit, he lived in Canyon Lake for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired after 30 years as a salesman for Simon Levi, where he was Salesman of the Year many times. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Menifee Valley Church.
Mr. Lombardo is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Ann Lombardo of Canyon Lake; daughters and sons-in-law Michele and John Jackson of Murrieta and Lisa and Tony Zaccaglin of Canyon Lake; sister, Marie Sofka of Tustin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Evans-Brown Mortuary Sun City Chapel. A graveside committal with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area No. 1.
