ESCONDIDO -- Henry I. Lathrop, 80, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at home.

Born June 23, 1927, in Detroit, he lived in Escondido 23 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947 during the occupation of Germany. He held a bachelor of arts degree in education, from Cal State Los Angeles. He was a retired teacher. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Lathrop is survived by his wife, Ruth Lathrop of Escondido; three children; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren

A funeral is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
