Dale Cody Powell, 88, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2006. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on October 28, 1918, Dale and late husband Fred retired to Fallbrook from Chicago in 1975 to enjoy the warm weather and sunshine. Although retired from business, life was busy, busy, busy.
Dale and Fred were married in 1940 by Dale#'s cousin, Monsignor John Cody, who later became John Cardinal Cody of Chicago from 1965 to 1982.
Dale defined Stay-at-Home-Mom before anyone really knew what that meant; in those days it was simply called "homemaker" - always there to raise her two daughters and support and encourage her family and set the right example.
Throughout her life, Dale was an active volunteer in numerous civic, charitable, social and church organizations which during her years in Fallbrook included Assistance League of Escondido Valley, where she was instrumental in starting Operation School Bell to help clothe needy children for school. She served as president in 1989/90. Dale was also a member of the Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary (gift shop), St. John's Anglican Church altar guild and was named Outstanding Volunteer by the San Diego Philanthropy Council in 2000.
In addition to her many volunteer responsibilities, Dale was an avid bridge player, golfer and excelled at many crafts including, dressmaking, needlepoint, gardening and flower arranging, winning numerous awards for her original designs.
Although she would not have considered cooking a "hobby," she was an excellent, creative cook and entertained with great style. Dale and Fred also enjoyed worldwide travel adventures, often with family and friends.
Dale is survived by her daughter, Deborah Evans, Mesa, Arizona, and daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Chuck Alvord, Fallbrook; grandson and wife, Stephen and Barb Stiers, Gilbert, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Connor and Kayla Stiers.
To Dale's many friends, we appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers for our very special mother and grandmother. The family wishes to say a special thank you to Country Gardens Alzheimer#'s Residential Care Home and the wonderful nurses at Fallbrook Hospice.
Please direct any memorial donations in Dale#'s name to Fallbrook Hospice, 624 E. Elder, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Richard 'Dick' Olinger
6-23-1919 - 1-9-2006
It doesn't seem possible that an entire year has gone by since we lost you. No one can believe it!! We know you live on with us in spirit and in love.
There is nothing better than love and precious memories to help us get through the grief and loneliness we have felt every day since you were called away.
It has been a struggle to get on with our lives without you. We have been able to manage through the strength and guidance you provided us, through all our years together.
We are so very proud to have had you as a loving husband and father for so many wonderful years.
Until we see you again.
Your loving family
In memory of Justin Vosper
9-21-1981 - 1-8-2004
Three years have gone by without you. Weddings, births, holidays, without your shinning smile, and quick sense of humor.
I remember the first movement you made on this earth in my belly, to the last time I saw you in the hospital begging you to move. I always ask myself where you would be today if in the split second you weren't taken away by that drunk driver.
I talk to you every day, cry for you every day, and have long conversations with God about "why." There are no answers for me until I face God myself, so until then I love you, I miss you and, and I hope you are happy in heaven.
God must permit smoking because once in awhile I can smell your smoke!
Love you, like you,
Mom
