Norene Troupe, 75
OCEANSIDE - Norene "Renie" Ruth Troupe, 74, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006.
Born April 1, 1931, in Leucadia, she lived in Oceanside and Carlsbad for 74 years. She was a PBX supervisor at Tri-City Medical Center for 22 years.
Mrs. Troupe was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Troupe, in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhondi and Tony Swirsky of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Tresa Eastman of Oceanside; stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law Brian and Peggy Troupe of San Marcos and Michael Troupe of Oceanside; grandchildren Tony Jr., Tina, Kristie, Donnie, Rachel, Erica, Stephen, Neal and Sara; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Inurnment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. A private cremation is planned.

Cecil Hughes, 80
OCEANSIDE - Cecil Ray Hughes, 80, died of cancer Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at his home.
Born Feb. 12, 1925, in Humansville, Mo., he lived in Oceanside for 35 years. He was a bus driver for Oceanside Unified School District.
He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a master gunnery sergeant. He was a member of Carlsbad Community Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and head usher.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 35 years, Setsuko "Susie" Hughes of Oceanside; and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Carol Hughes of South Carolina.
Visitation is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.
A graveside is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 3, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
A memorial service will follow at noon at Carlsbad Community Church, 3175 Harding St. in Carlsbad.

Paul Watson, 95
OCEANSIDE - Paul V. Watson, 95, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006.
Born Oct. 4, 1910, on the Choskie Indian Reservation in Oklahoma, he lived in Oceanside for 59 years.
He was the assistant postmaster in Oceanside. He was a professional softball pitcher in the 1930s.
He played in the World Series in 1934, '35 and '36. He was a member of Oceanside First Baptist Church for 33 years.
Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife of more than 71 years, Muriel G. Watson, in 2005.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Lana Watson of Oceanside; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Eunice Watson of Carlsbad; grandchildren Tobi, Saul, Dustin, Shelby and Tisha; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Eternal Hills Chapel,1999 El Camino Real in Oceanside.
Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025

Philip S. Barker
Philip S. Barker, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at Las Villas Del Norte, Escondido, in the Alzheimer's unit. Born Jan. 21,1923, in San Diego he moved to Escondido in 1925. He graduated from Escondido Union High School in 1941. He served in the United States Naval Air Corps from 1942 to 1948 as a flight instructor. He and Dorothy Jane Spry were married in February 1944.
He worked for the county of San Diego from 1948 to 1979. After retiring, the Barkers enjoyed traveling and Philip did a lot of fishing. He also carved animals and birds which he loved to give to family and friends. His family has been involved with Emmanuel Faith Church from its beginning.
Philip is survived by his wife, Jane, and one son, Philip of San Diego; three daughters, Jackie (Jeff) Johnson, JoAnn (Andy) Feenstra and Cindy (Julius) Turner of Escondido; grandsons Brandon (Carrie) Barker of Monrovia, Jeff (Kristi) Johnson of Lake Elsinore, Jeremy (Cara) Johnson, and Drew Feenstra of Escondido; and granddaughters Kai Barker of San Diego, Joy Johnson and Amanda Turner of Escondido. He had three great-grandchildren, two nephews and two nieces, and cousins.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mary Barker; brother Bill; and sisters Olive and Betty.
Private graveside service is planned.
