SAN MARCOS - James Morris Stansbury, 63, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at Kaiser Zion Hospital from complications from surgery.
Born Feb. 12, 1944, in Portland, Ore., he lived in San Marcos for 12 years. He earned his bachelor's degree from Oregon State, and his doctorate from Oregon Health Sciences University; he served his residency at the U.S. Naval Hospital, San Diego. He served in the Navy as a lieutenant, working as a missile technician and physician. He was an old-fashioned country general practitioner, devoted to helping others.
Mr. Stansbury was preceded in death by his father, Morris Howard Stansbury, in 2004; his mother, Argene Wenholz, in 1996; and his brother, Randall John Stansbury, in 1985. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Rene Marie Stansbury of San Marcos; son Adam; daughter Marissa; stepdaughter Sara; sisters Peggy and JoAnn and two grandsons.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Community of Christ Church in Escondido.
The family suggests donations to Community of Christ, Escondido, for Graceland College Scholarship Fund.
Allen Brothers Mortuary is handling arrangements.
