POWAY ---- Two people were in jail Thursday on multiple charges stemming from an investigation of counterfeit bills used at a Rancho San Diego Target Store, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
On March 30, Mina Thamracksa, a parolee, went to the store and made two purchases with counterfeit money, said Sgt. Jeff Maxin. Store employees discovered the fake money and notified sheriff's deputies, he said.
On Thursday, deputies went to the woman's Poway home and found her boyfriend, Thanh Nguyen, and a 1-year-old child, Maxin said. Nguyen is a documented gang member who had recently been released from jail.
Deputies searched the home and found more counterfeit bills, computer equipment, several grams of narcotics and multiple items of stolen property, the sergeant said. Deputies linked the stolen items to several residential and vehicle burglaries in the county.
Both were arrested and the child was taken to the Polinsky Center for Children.
