POWAY ---- Three people were arrested at a St. Patrick's Day sobriety checkpoint, sheriff's officials said.
Some 593 vehicles were checked in the 13300 block of Twin Peaks Road between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday, Deputy Mark Tally said.
Two people were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Tally said. One person was arrested on warrants.
Eight people were cited for driving without a valid driver's license or driving on a suspended license, Tally said. Six vehicles were impounded.
One person was cited for driving with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, the deputy said.
The checkpoint was funded with a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety. The city plans three more checkpoints in the coming months, Tally said.
