SAN MARCOS -- A couple was robbed of cash and a stereo while eating in a car outside a Taco Bell restaurant Wednesday night, sheriff's Lt. Anthony Ray said.
The alleged robbery was reported to sheriff's deputies at 10:53 p.m. in a parking lot at 1240 East Mission Road, Ray said. The man and woman told deputies they were eating in their car when a man with a black bandana over his face approached the driver, showed a revolver and demanded money and the victim's stereo, Ray said.
The driver gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and a stereo, Ray said, and the suspect and an alleged accomplice then fled on foot.
The victims told deputies the two men had walked by their car five minutes before the alleged robbery then returned with the gun, Ray said.
The suspects were described as Latino men, 18 to 20 years old, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and dark pants, Ray said. One was described as short and heavyset, while the other was tall and slim, he said.
No further details were available.
