St. Joseph Academy seventh-grade students sing hymns and carry anti-abortion signs Wednesday outside the care center at Cal State San Marcos. Some teachers and about half of the private school's first- through 12th-grade students left classes to sing and pray as part 40 Days for Life, a nationwide campaign Sept. 30 through Nov. 1 calling for an end to abortions. Doctors at the center did not return calls for comment.
