POWAY -- Deputies looking for two thieves Tuesday morning arrested two suspects, plus a third man unconnected with the crime but suspected of crashing into a nearby fire hydrant, officials said.
At about 3:15 a.m., dispatchers got word of two men who might have been stealing from a business storage yard in the 13000 block of Kirkham Way, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Anthony Ray said.
When deputies found a man walking along Kirkham Way about 30 minutes later, they thought they had found one of the theft suspects, Ray said.
Instead, they found a suspected drunken driver who was walking away from his car after hitting a fire hydrant, Ray said.
"His car was on its side and almost over an embankment," he said.
At about 4:30 a.m., the burglary suspects also were found hiding in the area.
All three men were taken into custody, Ray said. Their names were not available Tuesday.
