SAN DIEGO - Twenty-five people were arrested Thursday at an indoor swap meet in the San Diego neighborhood of Webster for allegedly selling counterfeit clothing, music and movies, officials said.
About $70,000 worth of DVDs and music and $60,000 in clothing were seized from the Fam Mart at 1755 Euclid Ave., following a raid by police early this afternoon, Deputy City Attorney Makini Hammond said.
The arrests and seizures followed a joint investigation by the San Diego Police Department, City Attorney's Office, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and investigators from the motion picture and recording industry associations, Hammond said.
Following undercover buys from vendors this morning, search warrants were served at 11 of the 45 booths at the flea market, Hammond said.
Those arrested will likely face felony piracy and trademark violations, depending on the amount of pirated goods they possessed, the deputy city attorney said.
