LOS ANGELES - A 12-year-old Riverside boy with cerebral palsy, who may have run off with a 40-year-old Riverside woman, was found in good shape Sunday, along with the woman, a California Highway Patrol sergeant said.
A civilian spotted Nilda Ruth Wery's red Jeep Wrangler, followed it and phoned authorities, said CHP Sgt. Miles Ingraham.
Wery pulled into an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Amar Road, south of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, in Baldwin Park, where CHP officers found the Jeep and then located her hiding underneath a pickup about 2:15 a.m., Ingraham said.
It was not immediately clear if she would be booked for a crime.
Eric Gibson was initially reported as a runaway by his parents, but an investigation revealed an "inordinately close relationship" with the suspect, according to Riverside police.
The boy, who has cerebral palsy, was expected to be returned to his parents.
Eric had not been seen since about 6:30 a.m. Friday at La Sierra Avenue and Gramercy Place in Riverside, Riverside police Sgt. Pat Watters said.
He was expected to be returned to his parents, Ingraham said.
Authorities say Wery may have enticed Eric into her Jeep.
The two met at a Fourth of July party and, since then, the boy had been spending a lot of time at her home, KCAL9 reported.
"The young man had been spending a lot of time in this household that included a couple of children his own age, but almost all the time he spent in that household was with the 40-year-old woman," Riverside police Detective Steven Frasher said.
