SAN DIEGO -- County supervisors this week appointed Mack Jenkins as the county's new chief probation officer.
Jenkins was working as the director of juvenile field services for Orange County. San Diego County officials said Jenkins spent nearly 30 years in Orange County, where he designed an intensive supervision program for sex offenders and managed the development of a special supervision program for domestic violence offenders.
Jenkins, expected to start the job next month, will oversee a department with more than 1,300 staff members and a budget of more than $165 million.
