Two Southwest County high school seniors were named to the 2009-10 All-County Academic Team on Wednesday.
Chanel Chang from Chaparral High and Green Choi from Vista Murrieta High were among 10 students named to the team during the fifth annual Riverside County Student Academic Awards dinner in Riverside.
High schools from 17 districts in the county nominated 131 students for the honor based on their academic performance, grade-point average, Scholastic Aptitude Test scores and extracurricular activities.
Chang scored 2310 on her SAT, has a GPA of 4.42, and is ranked third in her class. Her activities and honors include Science Olympiad, Key Club, California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, AP Scholar with Distinction and teaching at Young Nak Presbyterian Church Sunday Korean School.
Choi scored 2390 on his SAT, has a GPA of 4.5 and is ranked first in his class. His activities and honors include tennis team, California Scholarship Federation, National Honor Society, Interact Club, National Merit Scholarship finalist, Eagle Scout award recipient, National AP Scholar, Renaissance Scholar award, Korean American Award of Outstanding Student and Scholarship and Korea Daily dream essay contest winner.
Other local nominees recognized at the banquet were:

-- Perris Union High School District: Mireya Amparo Chavez Martinez, Nicholas Sbardellati and Christopher John Zazueta, Heritage; Sharon Bong, Esteban Vasquez and Grisel Villa, Paloma Valley.
