TEMECULA ---- A Riverside County sheriff's deputy has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife, authorities said Thursday.
Jaime Morales, 32, of Temecula, was taken into custody Aug. 24 for alleged battery on a spouse and assault with a deadly weapon, said Sgt. Joe Borja.
Morales, who is assigned to the sheriff's Temecula station, allegedly attacked the woman Aug. 23, while he was off duty, Borja said. Police declined to release further details citing an ongoing criminal and administrative investigation.
Morales was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley and was released an hour later after posting $25,000 bail.
The case was referred to the district attorney's office, which is considering whether to file charges.
