TEMECULA - Two people were arrested on suspicion of burglarizing vehicles in church parking lots during services, a sheriff's sergeant said today.

Alfred Gonzales, 32, and Saira Utley, 22, were arrested around 9:15 a.m. Sunday at Hope Lutheran Church at 29141 Vallejo Ave., said Sgt. Steve Kusy, of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The pair were driving in a black Toyota Camry in the parking lot of the church, when a deputy checked the license plate and discovered that it was reported stolen, Kusy said.

Utley, who was on probation for identity theft, and Gonzales, who was on probation for burglary, were taken into custody, according to Kusy.

A check of the vehicle revealed several items that appeared to be stolen property, including several purses, five cell phones, four digital cameras, forty gift and access cards, a laptop, several iPods and a GPS navigator, he said.

The sergeant said several burglary tools were also found inside the vehicle.
