TEMECULA -- An eighth candidate has filed papers to run for one of two open seats on the Temecula Valley Unified School District's board.

Kevin Hill, who identified himself as a teacher, qualified for the race Monday, according to election officials. Hill could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

The other candidates who have qualified for the Nov. 4 ballot are business consultant Chuck Campbell, oral surgeon D. Allen Pulsipher, businessman Kent Perry, university educator Kristi Rutz-Robbins, bus driver Rick Lynch, state investigator Dave Vialpando, and control systems designer John Wetteland. The two winners will serve four-year terms.

The filing deadline for candidates was automatically extended to Wednesday because both incumbents, Barbara Tooker and Stewart Morris, did not file. They are not running for re-election.
