TEMECULA ---- The Edwards Temecula Stadium 15 movie theater at The Promenade mall will be getting an IMAX screen, according to an announcement by the theater's parent company, Regal Entertainment Group.
The screen, which is curved and slightly larger than a regular movie screen, is being installed in an existing auditorium.
The first movie scheduled for the screen is Disney's "A Christmas Carol," the Robert Zemeckis version of the Charles Dickens' holiday classic that opens Thursday night at midnight.
In February, Regal issued a news release that said the Edwards Temecula theater was getting an IMAX screen. Two days later, IMAX representatives said the Regal release was sent out in error.
The IMAX Corp., a Canadian-based company, and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Regal, formed an agreement last year to install 31 new IMAX theater screens in 20 U.S. markets. But the deal, according to a Regal rep, required that both companies had to sign off on a new location, which may have sparked the confusion.
IMAX representatives were not available for comment Tuesday.
