PAUMA VALLEY -- A woman apparently drowned in the San Luis Rey River at the La Jolla Reservation campground Saturday evening, authorities said.
Firefighters received a report that a woman had drowned at about 7:15 p.m., a North Comm dispatcher said. When firefighters and sheriff's deputies arrived, the woman was floating face down in the river, Sheriff's Department Lt. Anthony Ray said.
Deputies remained on the scene for several hours Saturday night, but the death was not considered suspicious, Ray said.
He said the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the medical examiner's office would investigate.
