VISTA -- Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents arrested three family members early Thursday who are suspected of selling counterfeit immigration documents, said agency spokeswoman Lauren Mack.

Agents went to one home at 6:05 a.m. in the 700 block of North Citrus Avenue of Vista, Mack said.

The agents arrested a husband and wife, Alfredo Rodriguez-Mendez, 32, and Liberina Adelina Nino-Martinez, 28, both Mexican nationals, who were in the country illegally, she said. The couple's children, who range in age from 18 months to 11 years old are U.S. citizens and were left in the care of an aunt, Mack said.

Agents also went to the Oceanside workplace of the woman's uncle, Jesus Serafin Lita-Ruiz, 48, to arrest him.

Mack said the agents had federal criminal arrest warrants for all three who are being held in federal custody. They are expected to be arraigned today.

Tina Jillings, founder of the Coalition for Justice, Peace and Dignity, a pro-immigrant group, said she arrived at the scene shortly after agents arrived. She and others witnessed the couple being led out of the home, she said. Jillings said she did not know the family nor details about the case.

Another resident, Fredi Avalos, a human rights observer, said he videotaped the encounter after getting an anonymous call that the raid was happening. He said the Mexican Consulate and other immigrants rights organizations were notified about the arrest.
