Car-lovers, start your engines. The 20th annual Vista Rod Run and Car Show will motor into the city's downtown district Sunday.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., an estimated 300 hot rods, classics, trucks and special-interest vehicles will be parked, displayed, judged and admired by car enthusiasts from across Southern California. The cars will be displayed along Main Street between Santa Fe and Vista Village drives. Admission is free.
Hosted by the Vista Village Business Association, the annual car show attracts a crowd of about 8,000 people each year.
The event features a prize competition, with categories such as Best of Show, Best Upholstery, Best Paint, Best Graphics, Mayor's Choice, Longest Distance, Club Participation, Best Woodie and Best Custom Motorcycle. Trophies are awarded at 1:30 p.m. Country-rock band City Limits will perform on stage near the fountain at Main Street and Michigan Avenue.
A vendor village will feature businesses selling items including car products and accessories, motorcycle items, remote-control cars and die-cast models, custom embroidery and logo T-shirts, oil recycling and car art and photography. A food court will offer barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers and other items for sale.
A portion of proceeds from this year's event will benefit Girls Inc.
