WILDOMAR ---- Ben Benoit, a city planning commissioner and the son of politician John Benoit, became the first resident to file papers declaring candidacy in the Wildomar City Council race on Nov. 2.
Three of the five council seats are up for election ---- those held by Marsha Swanson, Sheryl Ade and Scott Farnam. The election will be the first council race since the city incorporated. When voters approved cityhood in February 2008, they also picked the five council members who have served on the first council.
Benoit, 30, moved to Wildomar six years ago and runs a computer networking business. The City Council voted 4-1 in June to name him as the replacement for a departing planning commissioner who resigned because he moved out of Wildomar.
Benoit's father now serves as a Riverside County supervisor after stints in the state Assembly and Senate.
