WILDOMAR -- Six acres of brush were charred by a blaze Wednesday afternoon not far from the community known as The Farm.
The fire was reported at 12:48 p.m. in an area south of Bundy Canyon Road near Barker Lane and Keller Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A towering column of dark smoke could be seen from Lake Elsinore to Temecula as firefighters made their way to battle the blaze. Initially, fire officials believed the flames had the possibility of burning more than 100 acres.
However, a total of 130 firefighters, assisted from above by retardant-dropping aircraft and helicopters, had the flames surrounded in less than an hour and kept the damage at 6 acres.
No injuries or structural damage was reported and the cause of the fire is still being investigated, officials said.
