Officials and residents attending Wednesday's Wildomar City Council meeting learned something about Councilman Scott Farnam ---- he will honor a bet even if it means making a public spectacle of himself.
Farnam showed up with half his face painted black and the other half gold, and instead of the sports jacket and tie he typically dons, he wore a black hooded sweat jacket with an image of a gold scepter on the front.
Rest assured, he didn't do it because he's a New Orleans Saints' fan.
Rather, Farnam explained, he lost a bet with council cohort Bridgette Moore. Both were quoted in a piece by The Californian's columnist John Hunneman on who local dignitaries picked to win the Super Bowl.
Farnam favored the Colts, and after seeing Moore being quoted quite articulately on why the Saints would win, they got together on a friendly wager. The loser would have to wear the regalia of the winning team to the council meeting and admit they didn't know anything about football compared to their adversary.
In addition to presenting himself in the garish outfit, Farnam presented Moore with a trophy and proclaimed her as the Super Bowl Prediction Goddess.
If nothing else, Farnam nailed a perfect get-up for upcoming Mardi Gras celebrations.
