Wishing for some global warming

Much of the country is deluged with record snowfall, and we are supposed to believe that this is caused by global warming? Record snow packs fall onto our local mountains. A friend of mine in the D.C. area spent two hours digging his car out of the snow. He was wishing for some global warming.

So, does global warming now cause global cooling?

After the revelations of the e-mails by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change showing fraud and cover-up, anybody with an sliver of common sense can conclude that global warming (and our current global cooling) are caused by, um ---- the changing of the four seasons.

Those who seek to control and regulate every aspect of our lives will utilize any moral panic available to centralize and expand government control.

Notice how they will now attempt to downplay "global warming" by substituting the term "climate change." Climate change is just the changing of the four seasons. What's the next environmental moral panic? Attacking Newton's laws of gravity?

In the meantime, I just filled up the gas tank of my Hummer. I like to think the oil comes from Iraq. Life is great. you know, we don't allow trolling in our web comments. why do we allow it here? this letter is nothing but taunts.

Right to life

Tim Tebow ignited the abortion debate with a pro-life Super Bowl ad. When will sane people realize that the helpless and innocent unborn children need protection? The Central Illinois Right to Life cites 1 percent of abortions are due to rape or incest, 1 percent are due to fetal abnormalities and 3 percent are due to maternal health problems. There are approximately 4,000 abortions performed per day in the U.S. This means that the overwhelming majority of all abortions (95 percent) are done as a means of birth control. Some 3,800 infants are literally shredded because society says these defenseless lives have no rights.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute cites that black women are more than 4.8 times more likely than non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2.7 times as likely. As a Hispanic, I am appalled that more African-Americans and Hispanics were killed by abortions since 1973 than through any racial strife we've endured since the founding of our country.

Isn't it ironic that when I was in the Army in the 1970s, I was often labeled a "baby-killer" by the same liberals who promoted the systematic infanticide of so many of our children?

Standing with President Obama

A new federal study shows that health care spending rose to an estimated $2.5 trillion in 2009, or $8,047 per person — and is now projected to nearly double by 2019. This isn't a problem we can kick down the road for another decade — or even another year.

If we don't act, this growing burden will mean more lost jobs, more families pushed into bankruptcy and more crushing debt for our nation. Too many in Washington are now saying that we should delay or give up reform entirely, but Americans understand the stakes for our economy and our lives, and that we want action.

We are incredibly close to passing real health reform. I stand with President Obama in calling on Congress to finish the job.

GOP in a state of constant denial

Republicans are in a constant state of denial over their incompetence and spending from 2000 to December 2008. Stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan, lost Bin Laden at Tora Bora, Taliban is back. Americans were not asked to sacrifice, as in World War II. No increase in taxes to pay for the wars. Right after 9/11, Bush told us to go shopping. Told the terrorist world to "bring them on," and they're still coming.

He cut taxes for those who profited from a refueled military industrial complex, billion dollar no-bid contracts, billions for mercenaries, not enough money to pay troops, extended tours, Katrina, Walter Reid Hospital, Social Security and Wall Street.

In 2003, they lowered interest rates, scant regulations on the banks. In 2007, the subprime home loan disaster began. The captains (CEOs) of the military industrial complex, Wall Street and banks are, as a rule, Republican. "Trickle down" is their hymn. In December 2008, the deficit was $1.3 trillion and all the above. Lest we forget.

Dick Cheney and his daughter have joined in with the fearmongers and demagogues at Fox News. Plus, the Tea Parties.

The Supreme Court gave us Cheney and Bush. Now they gave corporate America free rein on campaign dollars. Wow!
