Grateful for the End Racial Profiling Act
I would like to thank Rep. Howard Berman and the 56 other House members, including six from Southern California, who introduced and co-sponsored the End Racial Profiling Act of 2010. Not only will this ban the discriminatory, unconstitutional and highly ineffective use of racial profiling, but will also provide law enforcement officers with the tools they need to develop more effective practices that do not result in racial profiling.
The truth of the matter is, racial profiling wastes resources and puts us all at risk because it diverts law enforcement away from focusing on legitimate threats. This bill will be beneficial for all communities.

Stop the Liberty Quarry
Why is Liberty Quarry able to keep applying for a right to dig a huge hole in our community? Don't they hear us? No Liberty Quarry or any other quarry!
A quarry will do nothing but destroy our way of life. More trucks at our door and more stinking air pollution for us to breathe. ... This is too much.
Why is Liberty Quarry here in Riverside county? Liberty Quarry thinks we are a bunch of hicks and won't fight for ourselves. Tell your neighbors and friends to help stop this quarry.
The small amount of jobs they offer is minuscule compared to the amount of damage they will do to Temecula and the surrounding areas. ... Once it is done, it cannot be undone.
Liberty Quarry is waiting for us not to show up at the meetings. We will be there, all of us. Make sure our elected officials know we will not stand for a quarry in our community and we will not go away. Write to your county supervisors, and tell them you do not want Liberty Quarry or any other quarry in Temecula.

Road median eyesore persists
Maybe, just maybe, some exposure via a letter to the editor will propel some initiative to eradicate the embarrassing appearance that the 2-foot to 5-foot weeds represent along the Winchester Road median.
Temecula is working on a "Beautification Project" of said median, but Murrieta appears to be ignoring the eyesore. Simply cutting and spraying the weeds until which time they do their own "Beautification Project" would be a step in the right direction. Where is the city pride?

Nice to agree with columnist
The column by Andy McIntosh was a breath of fresh air to us ("Conquest mosque by mosque?" July 18)! ...
Truly, the goal of the religion of Islam is "conquest mosque by mosque," as every city in every state in America is listed on the Magic Yellow page site with one or more information centers, educational centers and/or mosques in every city. When you click on any city on this site, you will see what I mean.
We live in Aguanga, population of approximately 12,000, and there are four different numbers to call for Islamic information. Thanks again for having intelligent, well-informed writers and for allowing "truth" to be written when too often what we say or write is often viewed as politically incorrect. It is nice to have someone agree with us, too.

Agrees with mosque column
Thanks, Andy McIntosh for the eye-opening column printed in the July 18 Californian ("Conquest mosque by mosque?"), which said it much better than the letter I wrote (not printed).
He is right on in declaring the denial so many of his fellow columnists and some Americans are in. I want to shout "Wake up," these are the same people who declare that Jews have no right to exist, and that those who do not follow Muslim teachings are to be slaughtered. Not only do they say it, but they do it.
Oh, I know there are those who value their families and do not allow their sons and daughters to strap on bombs and blow themselves up for the sake of Allah. But the overall teaching is still being taught, and no one in the Muslim community is speaking out about the horror of it. At least I don't see any printed in The Californian. Have I missed them? Do they speak against the leader of Iran calling for death to the Jews? Do they mourn the loss of a young man who has been so blinded by the "faith" that he follows orders to fly a plane into a tall building, or a young woman with bombs strapped on going into a shopping area full of other women and children who blows them all up, including herself?
America, wake up, we are going to be conquered, not by terrorists but, as Andy said, "mosque by mosque."

Please make paper more user-friendly
The most annoying part of The Californian's format is putting an advertising flap on the left side of page one. The Sunday comics have the advertisement on the right side. Both are torn off to read these sections. The right side (on comics page) leaves this section intact, but the left side when torn off leaves a loose page at the end of the front pages.
In my opinion, the paper would be more user-friendly placing the front page ad on the right side.
