Elsinore's Ruben Ibarra turned in a time of 17:21 and Temescal Canyon's Jana Basuba led the girls with a mark of 21:10 as the two schools split a nonleague cross country dual meet Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers downed Temescal Canyon, 22-39, on the boys' side, while the Titans bested the Tigers, 15-50 for the girls.

Also turning in solid performances for Temescal Canyon were Stacey Novak (21:50) for the girls, and Zach Carrier (18:03) and Dan Gregory (18:37) for the boys.

For Elsinore, Daniel Metzger (18:30) and D.J. Weightman (18:37) also contributed for the boys, while Brittany Tibet (23:37) paced the Tigers' girls.

In girls volleyball,

Cal Lutheran def. Cornerstone Christian, 25-8, 25-13, 26-24 -- At Cal Lutheran, Courtney Cavanaugh had five kills and Katie Kogler added three as the C-Hawks prevailed in both teams' nonleague opener.

Hamilton def. Escondido Adventist, 25-10, 25-11, 28-26 -- At Hamilton, Anne Rios had 11 aces and Charlene Renke had four kills as ther Bobcats won their nonleague season opener. Allie Poston added seven aces and Rachel Leash added three kills.

In boys water polo,

Murrieta Valley 11, Brea Olinda 5 -- At Brea Olinda, Jory Johnson scored five times and R.C. Dean and Kendall Olds each added two goals apiece as the Nighthawks prevailed in both teams' nonleague opener.

Chaparral 17, La Quinta 9 -- At Chaparral, Josh Stone scored five goals and Keith Shugrou added four as the Pumas prevailed in both teams' nonleague opener.

In girls golf,

Temescal Canyon 250, Riverside Ramona 275 -- At Canyon Lake Country Club, Danielle Pearce shot a 45 and Michelle Lippi added 46 in the Titans' nonleague win.

Paloma Valley 221, Temecula Valley 277 -- At Temeku Hills, Krystina Gillenwater shot a 35 as the Wildcats downed the Bears in a nonleague match.

In girls tennis,

Corona Santiago 9, Chaparral 9 (Santiago wins on games, 83-75) -- At Santiago, the Pumas were edged without Nazlie Ghazal, who was on a recruiting trip. The Pumas did not have any sweeps.
