Tim Island scored 16 points to pace four players in double figures as Mt. San Jacinto defeated Cuyamaca, 81-62, in the Hemet Kiwanis Holiday Tournament on Friday.
Mark Williams, Raymond Williams and Dejuan Flowers scored 10 points apiece for MSJC. Flowers pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, helping MSJC to a 42-26 advantage on the boards.
The Eagles advance to the tournament championship game at 3 p.m. Sunday against L.A. Valley.
With the win the Eagles raised their record to 15-2. They are ranked No. 3 in Southern California and No. 6 in the state.
Eagles women fall to Compton
Mt. San Jacinto's women's team was not able to overcome a cold shooting night in a 59-56 loss to Compton. The Eagles shot 16-of-77 (21 percent) and trailed 36-30 at halftime. MSJC's Michelle Simmons recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals.
