Kickoff: 5:15 p.m. Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium - Series: Chargers lead 13-9. The Chargers won the last meeting, 26-17, on Dec. 18, 2005 at the RCA Dome, handing the Colts their first loss after they had started 13-0.

Player to watch: RB Joseph Addai

Chargers equipment gurus Bob Wick, Chris Smith and Kevin Duddy have worked overtime removing Adrian Peterson's cleat marks from the Chargers' uniforms. But on the heels of the worst performance against the run in franchise history, here comes the productive Addai. He will arrive Sunday with 704 yards and seven TDs in 149 carries. Only two rushers - Peterson and Willie Parker - have more yards. In the first half of Sunday's showdown against the Patriots, Addai had more yards than New England: 107 receiving yards and 80 on the ground. The Chargers' shaken run defense will face another huge challenge in stopping this second-year pro from LSU.

Offense

His last name draws boos in San Diego, but there's no doubting the player heading this Super Bowl champion team. All-Pro QB Peyton Manning directs the NFL's No. 3 offense, using his powerful arm and cerebral approach to frustrate countless opponents. The seven-time Pro Bowler has completed 168-of-259 passes for 2,058 yards, with 14 TDs and four INTs. … WR Marvin Harrison, another All Pro, figures to return after sitting out Sunday with a knee injury. Harrison (20 catches, 247 yards, one TD) remains Manning's favorite target, although his numbers pale in comparison to WR Reggie Wayne (49-730-5) and TE Dallas Clark (34-403-6). … The stout offensive line is led by two-time Pro Bowl C Jeff Saturday.

Defense

While it's the offense drawing most the headlines, the Chargers can't fall asleep competing against this defense. It is that good - ranked No. 5 in the NFL. Both ends, Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney, will test RT Shane Olivea and LT Marcus McNeill, respectively. Mathis has a team-high four sacks and Freeney has 3 1/2. But the real leader is Pro Bowl S Bob Sanders, who supplies critical run support and has 2 1/2 sacks as well. He's among the reasons why only Tampa Bay has a better pass defense than Indianapolis. … FS Antoine Betha has a team-high three INTs; LCB Kelvin Hayden is second among Colts with 71 tackles. MLB Gary Brackett paces the squad with 82 tackles.
