Update: The Tigers' senior middle blocker tallied 11 kills in Elsinore's sweep of Oak Park in the CIF Southern Section Division II-A quarterfinal Saturday night. She has 253 kills on the season for the Tigers, who play Thousand Oaks La Reina at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals. Waber, who plays for 951 Elite, signed her letter of intent with the University of Hawaii last week after entertaining offers from several NCAA Divison I programs.

Age: 16

Birthday: Nov. 25, 1992

What exactly sold you on Hawaii during your trip there this fall? "It was everything. I went on my visit and I was just completely amazed. I just could see myself going there and I didn't get that same feeling from other schools."

I'm sure it doesn't hurt going to class at a vacation destination: "Not at all. Ever since I was little, I've loved Hawaii. I've been there six times and my mom grew up there."

Going to give surfing a try? "I will probably try it. I don't know successful I'll be, but it's worth a shot."

Elsinore has lost two matches all year. Will your team be satisfied with anything short of a section title? "No way. We all want to win CIF so bad. We have nine seniors on our team and this is our last chance. We really want to win the title."

Favorite sport other than volleyball: Basketball

You're 6-foot-3. Ever think about giving hoops a try at Elsinore? "They tried to get me. I quit playing basketball the summer of my freshman year. For a while, I tried to play both. But when you're serious about volleyball and you play club, you have to put in a ton of time. ... (Volleyball) is a better all-around fit for me. I have so much fun on the court. I'm more built for volleyball. I'd be a center in basketball and I'd have to be up against some big girls. That would bug me."

Favorite team: "Besides Hawaii volleyball, I'd say the Lakers."

Favorite athlete(s): "Misty May and Kerri Walsh"

Favorite movie: "Remember the Titans" and "27 Dresses"

On your MP3 player now: "A little bit of everything ---- All Time Low, Taylor Swift, Jack Johnson."

Last movie you saw in a theater and what you thought? "The Fourth Kind" ---- "It was really creepy, especially since I don't watch scary movies."

Favorite TV show: "The Office" and "House"

Last book read for fun: "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer

Plans to see New Moon this week? "Oh yeah, definitely. Me and my friends might go to the midnight premiere."

Ok, Team Jacob or Team Edward? "Hmm, I don't know. I haven't made up my mind yet."

Future plans: "I'd like to play overseas professionally or on the national team. We'll see."

Coach's quote (from Elsinore coach Kim Horton): "We have four closers, but with Michelle, you have to find her (on the court). You have to worry about her all the time. If you let her go, she's going to put that ball down every time."
