ESCONDIDO ---- Joe Cavellier and Jake Bons each ran for two touchdowns as the Calvin Christian School football team clinched the first outright league title in its brief history Friday with a 42-6 victory over Borrego Springs.
The Crusaders (7-3, 7-0 Southern League) won their final seven games of the regular season to make a strong case for a top-four seed in the CIF San Diego Section Division V playoffs.
Bons ran for scores of 25 and 23 yards, and also found Thomas Salzman with a 10-yard touchdown pass against Borrego Springs (2-8, 1-6). Cavellier scored on runs of 25 and 3 yards.
David Estelle added 86 yards rushing and a touchdown for Calvin, which scored the game's first 42 points.
