SAN DIEGO -- Keegan Yuhl has been the big man on the mound all season for the Poway High baseball team.

Saturday night before a CIF single-game record crowd of 2,632 at Tony Gwynn Stadium, the junior was a Titan.

After working six innings Thursday in a semifinal win, he came in the CIF San Diego Section Division I title game and threw 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief as the Titans scored in the bottom of the seventh on Brett Thomas' one-out, bases-loaded singled to edge Palomar League foe Rancho Buena Vista 4-3.

"I had a couple of days off and I was good to go," said Yuhl, who improved to 13-1 on the season as Poway made it back-to-back titles and three in the last four years.

"Its the end of the season, and I was willing to give it all I had.

"The coaches told me they might use me. I went to the bullpen to warm up, and then I was in. My arm feels great, and I did my job.

"RBV (24-10) is an awesome team. They always compete.

"Honestly, this is a memory I'll never forget."

Thomas was the offensive star for the Titans (28-7), going 3-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in a run.

Josh Anderson started the bottom of the seventh with a first-pitch double to left. Steve Halcomb was walked intentionally and pinch-hitter Brian Kuklok beat out a bunt to load the bases.

Pinch-hitter John Jensen-Johnson's grounder led to a force at the plate and the first out of the inning.

Then Thomas delivered, taking a fastball away and driving into hole on the left side off Brandon Cooley, who threw 3 2/3 innings of great relief for the Longhorns.

"I was just trying to put the ball in play," Thomas said. "The pitch was outside and I went with it.

"I wanted to get the bat on the ball. I just needed to trust myself.

"This is a great feeling because we have such a great group of coaches and players.

"And Keegan was amazing."

RBV jumped out early, scoring twice in the top of the first.

Tony Wolters was hit by a pitch to open the game and moved to second on a single to center by Rich Montanez. Both runners moved up on a passed ball and scored on ground balls to second by Jimmy Allen and Alex Brown.

Poway came right back in the bottom of the inning.

Thomas and Austin Wynns singled and Dillon Dooney walked to load the bases. Trevin Lipe's sacrifice fly scored one run and a Josh Anderson single tied the game at 2.

Poway lost a run when Dooney was out at home on a bang-bang play, trying to score on a wild pitch.

Thomas stole a run for Poway in the third, drawing a walk, moving to second on a long fly ball to center field and scoring from second base on a wild pitch when pitcher Reed Reznicek chased down the ball near the third-base dugout, but threw the ball wildly by catcher Rich Montanez.

RBV tied it at 3 in the top of the fourth when Brown singled with one out and went to second on an outfield error. Jose Rodriguez was safe on an infield error with Brown moving to third. Mark Smith's infield single scored Brown.

"Typical Palomar League game," said RBV coach Leo Fletes. "Games don't get much better than this.

"Keegan Yuhl did his job, clutched up when he had to.

"But I'm so proud of my guys.

"At the start of the season, we weren't a top-10 team. We were in the 'others'.

"So to put a great season like this together and finish here in the championship game, on a college campus, in front of a great crowd, says a lot."

Attendance for the day's four games was 4,985.
