POWAY - In mythological times, the Titans ruled the Earth.

On Friday night, it was the Titans of Poway High who were able to control their turf, dominating Scripps Ranch 35-13 in a clash of two top-ranked football teams.

Junior running back Nick Ricciardulli carried the ball 19 times for 125 yards and had two touchdown runs, both coming in the first half.

Titans quarterback Tynan Murray completed 10-of-12 passes for 154 yards, while also connecting with tight end Ryan Deehan for a 79-yard touchdown reception, the first of his varsity career.

Poway (3-0), the No. 3-ranked team in the county, shined on both sides of the ball. The Titan defense, which is among the best in the county, intercepted Falcons quarterback Robert Forcier three times, two coming on his first two pass attempts of the game.

"Our defense played really well," Poway coach Damian Gonzalez said. "It was nice getting some interceptions. Our defense really kept us in the game."

The Poway defense shut out Scripps Ranch in the first half, while not allowing a completion the entire half.

Poway two-way standout Jared Relyea had a fumble recovery and an interception on defense, while catching five passes for 37 yards on offense.

The No. 8-ranked Falcons (1-1), had a miserable first half on offense, but gained momentum in the second half with two late touchdowns.

Poway will now get set for Thursday's key match up at El Camino.

"Next week is going to be huge," Gonzalez said. "They have some athletes, just a great team. We have to be a lot better than we were today."
